When it comes to televisions, LG has been one of the big names for many years. At CES 2023, the company is presenting its latest OLED TV line, which aims to impress with high luminosity, AI upscaling and lots of gaming features.

The proverbial highlight of the announcements is the feature Brightness Booster Max, which should increase the brightness of the G3 Gallery TVs by up to 70 percent. This is made possible through a combination of hardware design and a light amplification algorithm. In addition, the devices have a new one Zero Gap-Designwhich is intended to make the TV blend more into the wall.

Other innovations of the LG OLEDs 2023

Otherwise, the new OLED line consists of the flagship Z3 (8K), the mid-range series C3 and the entry-level B3. The A series, LG’s previous entry-level OLED TV, will be canceled for 2023 without replacement.

With the exception of the B3 series, all of the televisions presented will be OLED Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro support. This is a new function that dynamically regulates the brightness and color mapping of the panel over 20 zones. This should ensure a more realistic and high-contrast display of content.

The TVs will also have a new one HDR Expression Enhancer feature that enhances object-based tone mapping and object-based sharpening. All 2023 devices cover 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color space.

Of course, a pinch of AI should not be missing either: Additionally AI Super Upscaling with genre and scene recognition, which will be found in all models – even in the cheaper B3 series. To accomplish this, the televisions will receive new processors:

  • Z3: a9 AI-Processor 8K Gen6
  • G3 & C3: a9 AI-Processor 4K Gen6
  • B3: a7 AI-Processor 4K Gen6

With its new lineup, LG offers a lot of features that gamers in particular will be happy about. All TVs have a refresh rate of 120 Hz, support VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), Freesync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync.

The Z3, G3 and C3 TVs each have four HDMI 2.1 ports. The B3 series is content with two of them. All televisions are also for QMS-VRR certified. QMS stands for Quick Media Switching and should allow seamless switching of HDMI sources without the screen briefly going black.

The audio capabilities in LG’s 2023 OLED TVs will also be upgraded. With the WOW Orchestrafeature enables seamless integration between LG soundbars and the built-in TV speakers. This makes it possible to change settings on the LG speakers directly via the TV screen. Also, the OLED TVs will be able to provide a lossless wireless connection to the company’s soundbars, a feature that LG WOW Cast names.

The LG webOS operating system also gets a few fresh features with the new televisions. So it will be possible to determine the preferred picture mode with an AI assistant. LG’s Home Hub also shows personalized recommendations for each individual profile, which can now also be provided with avatars. Last but not least, the new televisions will Smart-Home-Standard Matter support.

LG has not yet announced exactly when the new televisions will be available and how much they will cost.
