With Life by You, the long-standing successful series The Sims from Maxis should finally have serious competition – but we will find out later than planned whether the title from Paradox Tectonic really has what it takes.
Paradox Tectonic today announced a major shift in the promising life simulation. This is intended to make life difficult for the currently available The Sims 4 and in the medium term also for the new The Sims 5 and to make various things better. Will it work? At least we won’t find out until March.
Life by You was actually supposed to go into early access on March 5, 2024 and thus provide initial insights into the title while the development team puts further work into it until the full version is completed. But that doesn’t work now, because the early access version of Life by You won’t start until around three months later on June 4, 2024.
The announcement states that the three-month extension will allow the development team to “refine the graphics of the human characters and further improve the gameplay.” A driving force behind this decision is said to have been the strong community ties that the studio has already been able to build. Ultimately, the decision was made to ensure the highest quality game possible right from the start of early access – and is now taking the additional time to do so.
The development team goes into the background in a blog entry in more detail than is usually the case with such reports. Even the individual areas in which improvements are still being sought are discussed in detail. In addition to the points mentioned above, bug fixing as well as performance and stability, for example, also play a role.
If you are still dissatisfied with the postponement and may want to withdraw from a pre-order of Life by You, you can find further information about refunds in the FAQ. Incidentally, pre-orders are currently suspended, but the title can still be added to the wish lists on Steam and the Epic Games Store. The Life Begins Pack and Nightlife Vibes Packs will be available throughout Early Access to anyone who purchases the game.

Life by You will now be released in early access for the PC on June 4, 2024 and is a life simulation like The Sims. You can shape and live out the lives of the people you create in an open and customizable game world. You create households, build houses and tell stories of life. Thanks to conversations in real language and possible changes in perspective, you should be able to form a special emotional bond with your virtual people.
