Like a Dragon/Yakuza series developer RGG Studio has confirmed that it will host the RGG Summit on September 20, the same date as last fall’s RGG Summit, and it seems that a reveal is imminent. Naturally, fans were quick to speculate/hope that the studio would deliver what they wanted.
The date of the summit seems a bit interesting, as RGG personnel, including studio head Masayoshi Yokoyama, previously said in a July livestream that its next game would be unveiled at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, which will be held from September 26 to 29. That’s right, a week after this summit.

Naturally, this has caused some confusion among fans, who are wondering how RGG will handle the new game announcements it has hinted at, as these dates seem to rule out simply using the summit to set up any major TGS announcements, such as offering more details or showing trailers. So, it remains to be seen what else the studio has planned, but if RGG is adamant about not doing a major reveal, then scheduling the summit a week early seems like an odd choice, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see an initial next game announcement potentially made at the summit, with more details revealed at TGS.
After all, last year’s RGG Summit on September 20 was pretty newsworthy, announcing a specific release date for Yakuza: Infinite Fortune and several trailers for the game, while also showing the opening of Yakuza Gaiden: The Man Who Erase His Name.
RGG just announced that a Nintendo Switch port of Yakuza Kiwami will be released in October, and Prime Video’s Like a Dragon: Yakuza TV series will also be released that month. SEGA also caused some heat earlier this month by registering the “Yakuza Wars” trademark.
Fans of the developer on social media are naturally hoping for something new at the summit, though, with some eager to see a new Judgment game, others eager to see a complete remake of Yakuza 3, and even a remake of the spin-off Yakuza: Dead Souls. Oh, and some eager to see a Gaiden starring Majima Goro, because of course they want to. To be fair, that sounds pretty cool to me.
