Like a Dragon: Pirate Gangs in HawaiiLike A Dragon, a new spin-off game set to launch early next year, was announced at the RGG Summit 2024 today.
The game will be a chivalrous action-adventure game. For the first time in the series’ history, Goro Majima will be the only protagonist, similar in style to last year’s “Yakuza Gaiden: The Man Who Erase His Name”.

The game appears to use a lot of locations and assets from Like a Dragon: Infinite Fortune – the game is set in Hawaii, where Majima mysteriously washes up, forgetting who he is, and meets a boy named Noah Rich – plus adds some new content, including a pirate hub called Madlantis, which is incredibly named.
Set during the events of Infinite Fortune, the game follows the aftermath of Kasuga Ichiban’s plan to stop the cult Parecana, and players can explore the game’s Hawaiian map as well as Madlantis and Rich Island, where the game begins after Majima meets a boy named . The game will feature two new fighting styles, “Mad Dog” and “Sea Dog” – the former using Majima’s classic dagger and the other using a pirate’s machete – and, as a series first, the game also adds the ability to jump while beating someone up.
The footage shows hand-to-hand combat between crew members on the deck of a pirate ship, and it certainly looks like there’s a chance that Majima will become a pirate captain, but we’ll have to wait and see if there will be Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag-style ship battles. At the moment, I think it seems unlikely, but then again, I would have said that the chances of RGG’s next game being a Majima Pirates game are slim, so who knows. As expected, though, there will definitely be plenty of side activities.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Gangs of Hawaii is expected to be released on PS5/PS4, Xbox Series X/S/Xbox One and PC on February 28, 2025.
After all, last year’s RGG Summit on September 20 was also quite newsworthy, announcing a specific release date for Yakuza: Infinite Fortune and several trailers for the game, while also showing the opening of Yakuza Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.
RGG also just announced that Yakuza Kiwami will be coming to Nintendo Switch in October, with the Like a Dragon: Yakuza TV series coming to Prime Video the same month.
