Little Nightmares was supposed to be released in 2024, but that is not going to happen now. The release has been pushed back noticeably.
The promising Little Nightmares III was announced last year at gamescom and was actually supposed to be released in 2024. However, the developers have now announced quite early that unfortunately nothing will come of it; the release has slipped noticeably back.
The development team has now published a longer message via X, in which the postponement to the new year 2025 is made public. The reasons for the postponement are rather vague, but they do explain that “quality is a top priority”. Accordingly, the title will be given the necessary development time to achieve the internal quality objectives.
The message did not say whether the release will take place in early, mid or late 2025, so how long the delay will actually be remains somewhat open. At least: More news about the game is promised for “later this summer”, so there may soon be more clarity on this as well.
Developer Supermassive Games, like many other companies in the industry, faced layoffs last February. Up to 30 percent of the workforce was laid off; it’s quite possible that the resulting lack of manpower could have something to do with the delay.
