There will be plenty of cameos in Deadpool vs. Wolverine, but some of them could be Marvel gimmicks.
It’s been revealed in several Deadpool vs. Wolverine trailers that its multiverse story will feature more than one cameo from the X-Men prequels, with one very important one already revealed in the film’s final trailer (seriously, if you’re a spoiler-hatener, you probably don’t want to watch this trailer). There have also been reports that a number of other characters will appear in the film, with the original cast reprising their roles, but according to a recent interview with GamesRadar, executive producer Wendy Jacobson said some of these may be fake leaks meant to keep fans in the dark about the real cameos.

“There may have been some shenanigans and misdirection on the internet or in person to keep things confidential,” Jacobson told GamesRadar. She continued, “Can’t confirm or deny any cameos in the film, but I will say that in terms of characters that may or may not appear, it was always important to us that nothing in the film felt like a gimmick. Any characters that appear have a key story purpose or serve as the beginning, middle, and end of a character arc. It was definitely a collaborative process to see who would fit and who wouldn’t.”
Obviously, who Jacobson is referring to here won’t be clear until audiences are able to see the film (which is only a few days away), but essentially, don’t hold out too much hope for your favorite X-Man to appear in the movie.
Deadpool vs. Wolverine is set to hit theaters later this week (July 26) and will be the first and only film released by Marvel this year.
