Although the event of Star Wars Celebration concluded a few hours ago, the news about the world of Star Wars does not stop appearing and the fans of the franchise need an urgent revival after all the announcements by Lucasfilm.
One of the great novelties that have been seen this weekend has been the announcement of the new films that Star Wars is preparing for the coming years. Although many think that they are far from being released, the director of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed through an interview with IGN the period that the company has established to launch all the projects announced at this conference.
First of all, he spoke about the project of Filoni and its film in the form of a culmination that will bring together all the characters of the Mandoverso.
“We’re pretty far along. These are things, as you can imagine, certainly looking at what Dave’s been doing with Ahsoka, it’s going to be at least six, seven years building up to what we’re going to do into a movie.”
Then he commented on the film directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoywhich will focus on Rey and her rise through the Jedi order
“As far as Sharmeen is concerned, we’ve already been working on her movie for a couple of years.”
Lastly, he wanted to mention the huge project he has James Mangold on hands about the origin of the Jedi and the story that will tell the origins of the Force.
“With what Jim and I are doing, because we had the benefit of doing Indiana Jones together, there was a lot of discussion about what that story would be. The great thing about Jim is that he’s a writer and director, so You can move at a fairly fast pace. So everything is moving forward. We might have a really nice situation where we have all these things ready to go, and we can take our time figuring out when we do them.”
So, if all goes well, Lucasfilm forecasts that in less than 10 years we can see the three films that the studio is preparing on the big screen, although it is true that this is not an immovable date and depending on what happens within the franchise, this could be extended to several more years.
