LucasFilm Games, the original name of LucasArts, is returning. In the future, all Star Wars games will appear under the new, old label, regardless of which developer they come from.
LucasFilm Games, as LucasArts was originally named, returns from the dead. According to the official Star Wars website the legendary gaming label is now back to release all upcoming Star Wars games under this name, regardless of which developer they come from. So basically it is a relabelling.
In a trailer, LucasFilm Games illustrates which games fall under the revived label. These are mainly games that have already been released and Star Wars DLCs for other titles. A title yet to be published is also included: LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. The older titles are Star Wars: Battlefront 2, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Star Wars Squadrons, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, The Sims 4: Star War – Journey to Batuu, Minecraft: Star Wars and Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.
As part of the restructuring, new social media channels were also created, which you can find on Twitter and Facebook under the name Lucasfilm Games. The question is whether this new development will affect Disney’s exclusive deal for the Star Wars brand with EA, given the LucasFilm Games announcement of games being “developed in collaboration with the best studios in the industry,” which doesn’t necessarily sound like exclusivity.
