According to Tom Ellis, “Lucifer” is ultimately about “redemption”. The website GoldDerby he revealed: “[Lucifer] is someone who is on a journey and will grow as a person. I always thought the show was about a journey of redemption, the ultimate redemption story of incorrigible characters […].”
But Tom Ellis also seems to like the “bad side” of Lucifer Morningstar, which he plays. In the same interview he revealed that it is “cathartic” for an actor to play a character who says everything you would like to say in real life, but which you would never get away with.
