Next to the early version of Luffy, where instead of a cap he has a scarf that looks like the fruit he himself eats, Oda makes a note: “He who laughs at his weaknesses, becomes the strongest.” As shown in the image, Oda has been planning since he was 18 years old for Luffy to become a very powerful character from a power that seems absurd, since it basically consists of turning into rubber.
Of course, Oda had a clear idea from the beginning about his ideal manga and, unlike many other authors, he has not changed the ending he had in mind.
