Apple products are known for their simplistic style. The MacBook in particular stands out with its monochrome unibody design. As a result, most models look very similar.
The artists and concept designers from ADR Studio brings at least in theory a little impetus to the matter. You’ve envisioned what a MacBook might look like when laptop-sized foldable displays are a reliable technology – with exciting results.
The designers call it that MacBook Folio
and its central fe ature is the foldable screen that stretches almost the entire MacBook. Only at the bottom edge of the laptop is a bar that is not occupied by the screen. Here you will find the trackpad and an Apple logo at the bottom right.
Gaming systems for on the go or at home
The design leaves no room for a physical keyboard, so the MacBook Folio replaces it with a virtual one. The advantage of this is that you can change the style of the keyboard at the touch of a button. Or you can simply turn the keyboard into a piano. The following screenshots give you an idea of what this might look like:
However, a virtual keyboard is always a double-edged sword. Because the feedback of the keys is worse than with a physical keyboard, since the keys do not protrude from the screen.
However, you could certainly get used to it if the virtual keyboard offers at least a little haptic feedback through vibration of the keys, as is usual on smartphones. A similarly innovative idea, but with a physical keyboard, the laptop is completely portless.
A large uninterrupted screen has its advantages
In the concept, you don’t necessarily have to use the lower half of the screen as a keyboard. You can also simply use the foldable screen in its entirety. You can fold the back of the MacBook Folio completely over to create a large, straight screen. It will look like that:
You can then use it, for example, to be artistically active or to watch films and series on a larger screen. With the latter, however, the aspect ratio also plays an important role in order not to be d isturbed by (too) large black bars.

Apple rethought: With the MacBook Folio, ADR Studio proposes a concept that would make the MacBook more versatile than ever. The foldable screen eliminates the physical keyboard, which you can use with other input methods such as a piano or as a second screen for video editing programs, for example.
Apart from that, the MacBook Folio is quintessentially Apple: it features a side Touch ID sensor, FaceID and front-facing camera, and Apple’s sleek and professional design. However, it could still be a while before a screen can be implemented without any problems in terms of size and functionality.
