Mad Max Furiosa wants to pay tribute to Fury Road with breathtaking sequences. One of them required an unprecedented investment.
The second trailer for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga was generally much better received than the first trailer. There are still doubts about the CGI, but the film’s direction seems to be in the same vein as Fury Road. So we should still have breathtaking car chases in a post-apocalyptic environment, and of course director George Miller and his teams have spared no effort to deliver an epic picture full of action.
Mad Max Furiosa aims to make an impression with one long scene
There are many action scenes that stay in the memory for their ability to leave a visual impression on the viewer. For decades, the highway sequence in The Matrix 2 Reloaded has continued to be used as an example. But in 2015, Mad Max Fury Road set things straight and demonstrated a level of expertise that Hollywood wasn’t really used to anymore. Therefore, there are obviously very high expectations for the sequel to “Mad Max Furiosa” on this level. The prequel with Anya Taylor-Joy, who succeeds Charlize Theron.
The young actress, who appeared briefly in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune 2, teased a scene that should captivate viewers. An action-packed scene in which Anya Taylor-Joy, like the other teams, wet their jerseys.
There is a 15-minute scene that took 78 days to shoot and mobilized around 200 stuntmen every day. We had important conversations with George [Miller] to figure out why this sequence had to be so long. This is because we see an accumulation of skills during this fight. And this is very important to understand how resourceful and courageous Furiosa is. It’s the longest sequence we’ve ever shot. At the end, everyone received a gift of a bottle of “Stairway to Nowhere” wine (editor’s note: related to the scene in question).
