With John Madden himself, the cover star of the new Madden NFL 23 has already been officially confirmed, which EA has now followed with a first trailer, the date and details of the innovations.
As confirmed by publisher Electronic Arts in a press release, the new Madden NFL 23 will be available worldwide on August 19, 2022; the release is then planned for the platforms PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC (EA App for Windows, Origin, Steam, Epic Games Store). Those who pre-order before July 22 will receive additional benefits including an All Madden Team Elite player, three days early access, 4,600 Madden Points, Dual Entitlement for a free upgrade to PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, exclusive challenges and more. In addition, EA Play members can get started three days before the release as part of a 10-hour trial version and enjoy exclusive in-game benefits every month.
Once again, the football title is being developed by EA Tiburon, who not only aim to provide an authentic 11v11 simulation experience again, but also new features. Above all, the FieldSENSE gameplay system is cited here, which should give you more control in all positions on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Through new technologies and mechanics, FieldSENSE should lead to a game flow with realistic results on the field. FieldSENSE’s branching animation technology enables the “Hit Everything” feature, redefining the physical interactions of sport. You can fight for every little progress and affect the outcome of tackles, whether in the air or on the ground. It also introduces new mechanics like 360 cuts, which allow you to change a ball carrier’s direction on the fly, and skill-based passing, giving you more control over where exactly to throw the ball and with how much power.
In addition, there will be a whole range of other improvements to central gameplay systems, as EA promises. These also cover American football fundamentals such as zone coverage, pass rush and restricting mobile quarterbacks. Overall, you try to reach a new balancing level.
Detached from the gameplay, the presentation has been further refined with new player body types, gear items and graphics created from the ground up using the new NFL player full body and game day gear scans. Hundreds of new players and coaches will also be scanned ahead of launch, with more to follow throughout the season. Plus, new player-facing 4K touchdown cameras add NFL realism.
Face of the Franchise: The League is making a comeback, this time with a greater focus on building an NFL career at one of five skill positions, including cornerbacks for the first time. Franchise mode brings player-requested features like the all-new Free Agency and contract tools, as well as improvements to scouting.
