Madden NFL 24: Super Bowl simulation: Chiefs or 49ers – who will win?

This weekend it’s that time again and one of the biggest sporting events of the year is approaching: the Super Bowl. This time defending champions Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers face each other. Who wins? EA tried to predict that again in the current Madden NFL 24.

Super Bowl 58 is imminent and will once again attract countless American football fans to their TV sets in Germany on the night from Sunday to Monday. Despite weak wide receivers, the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs ultimately made it back to the NFL final game and will face NFC rivals San Francisco 49ers around quarterback Brock Purdy. Will Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and his team overcome this hurdle and continue to build his own legend?

As usual, Electronic Arts tried to answer this question in advance. Year after year, a simulation of the final game is carried out in the current Madden game, this time in Madden NFL 24. The simulation hit the mark significantly often and actually correctly predicted the eventual Super Bowl winner. One of the few exceptions was actually last year. In 2023, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs faced each other in the Super Bowl and Madden NFL 23 predicted the Eagles as the clear winner with a supposed score of 31-17 – but in the end the Chiefs won 38-35.

And this year? If the simulation is anything to go by, then the Kansas City Chiefs will have the upper hand and defend the title – and no NFL team has been able to do that for a very long time (most recently: New England Patriots). The team around star QB Patrick Mahomes triumphed in the simulation with a narrow score of 30-28 and was ultimately able to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Side note: This year’s Super Bowl 58 is a rematch of Super Bowl 54 from 2020. The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers also faced each other back then – with the better end for the Chiefs, who won 31-20.
