It was a rumor that had been circulating for some time. 2K Games was preparing to announce the return of a license particularly popular with gamers this summer. All eyes were on Summer Game Fest 2024, but ultimately it was Civilization 7 that took the spotlight. When Gearbox announced Borderlands 4 with fanfare, no one expected the other saga beloved by the publisher’s gamers to close the evening. Yes, Mafia 4 is a reality and we have the first details.
Despite a lackluster conference, Gamescom 2024’s Opening Night Live had a nice little surprise in store. So don’t call it Mafia 4, call it Mafia The Old One. An episode that promises to be a prequel set in 20th century Italy and immersing us in the origins of the Mafia. Kotaku had already revealed elements of Mafia The Old One in May 2022. The game will take place several years before the first game in the license, in Sicily, the birthplace of the organization. It would then feature Tommy Angelo in the 1930s. See you at the end of the year for official details.
