A man named Ian Cheng wanted to play a pretty sarcastic joke on his wife Vera. He wanted to surprise her by giving her up to 36 amiibo units from Nintendo. So far so good, and where is the problem ?, you wonder. Well, it turns out that he bought the same amiibo model 36 times, specifically the «Isabelle» model, translated into "Cinnamon" in Spain. In other words, all the figures belonged to the same character from Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
And it turns out that his wife Vera hates the Cinnamon character with all her soul. According to her, "Isabelle is a useless secretary and a blatantly corrupt official who spends her city's money doing absolutely nothing."
The idea for this curious joke started when Ian Cheng realized that a store was selling amiibo figures at a price of only $ 1 per unit since they were winding up. After buying them, the real challenge was to hide the figures so that his wife would not discover the joke before Christmas.
In addition, he bought a bunch of Santa Claus and elf hats to decorate the amiibo figures. Christmas Eve came, waited for his wife to fall asleep, and began to work on his prank. He placed the 36 amiibo in a row, each one holding a small sign with a letter, and between all the figures they formed the phrase "Merry Christmas and New Year".
"Of course (Ian) had to play a joke on me with the Christmas presents because I guess that's the person I married. Oh darling!"
