Game news Mana: Square Enix formalizes the development of a new episode!
Born 30 years ago, the Mana series had its final unprecedented episode in 2014 with Rise of Mana, released on iOS and Android, then on PlayStation Vita. Since then, Square Enix has been content to dust off the old episodes, but it was obvious that better preparation was needed for the sequel.
Square Enix actually benefited from it 30 years anniversary stream the license to advertise that a brand new episode of Mana was in development on console. It was obviously the big announcement of Live of the Night, but the developers stayed rather vague for good reason. Masaru Oyamada, Producer only on the famous Japanese role-playing license, announced that a new work was actually in production, but this one had just started.
No trailer has been revealed and we are invited to wait, the announcements will be made “on time” by the publisher and developers. We hope to learn more about what prompted Square to start producing a new mana game, but we can easily imagine that easily the successes of the latest remakes / remasters Trials of mana at the top have their share of responsibility. On February 12th, we learned that Trials of Mana, a remake of Seiken Densetsu 3 released only in Japan, had more than a million copies sold in the world. One final green light for the license, which will therefore return on consoles on an unknown date.
