What is beer for in Manor Lords?
In addition to the many primary resources required for the proper functioning of your colony, there are several secondary resources that ultimately allow you to increase the level of your colony and progress to be able to use new technologies. Beer is exactly one of these raw materials. Beer served in taverns satisfies the entertainment needs of your settlers, allowing you to improve your censuses – your houses – starting at level 3. And in case you haven’t noticed, improving censuses allows you to increase the level of your colony.
First of all, you should know that there are different ways to get beer, be it through trade or production. The first option is the most direct, but necessarily assumes that one has a more or less significant source of income. The second option turns out to be the most complex, but certainly the most practical.
It’s actually quite easy to buy beer in Manor Lords. But here too, importing this resource involves certain costs, which are easier to amortize if you have already made good progress in a game. In order to buy beer, you must first have built a trading post. In the building menus you then have to go to the “Trade” tab, then “Goods” and finally select the beer
Producing beer is inevitably less expensive than importing, but requires multiple constructions and requires multiple families to be available at each stage of production. First you need to harvest barley. Note that you can also buy it in the same way as beer. To harvest barley, you must first build a farm and then a field. Remember to check the fertility of your land before planting a field there.
Once you’ve harvested barley, you’ll need a malthouse to convert the barley into malt. Build the Malthouse near your farm and fields to optimize production times. The Malthouse requires fuel every month, so make sure you provide enough fuel. Once you’ve collected some malt, you can begin the final step, which is making beer. We also point out that, like barley or beer, it is possible to buy malt directly. Since the game is still in Early Access and the barley obviously has no use other than making beer, you are free to choose the option that suits you best.
To produce beer, you need at least a level 2 pawnshop and land large enough to build an outbuilding in the backyard and build a brewery. Once this improvement is selected, your brewery will be converted into a brewery and your affected family will then use your malt supplies to produce beer. To finally be able to serve beer to your families, you’ll need to build a tavern that connects to the streets leading to your various incense houses and breweries. You can then check your Censives menu to see if your families’ entertainment needs are being met.
