Margot Robbie doesn’t care about Barbie’s Oscar snub

Barbie star Margot Robbie isn’t mad about the Oscar snub and the internet won’t shut up, preferring to defend director Greta Gerwig and everything she’s accomplished.

During a discussion with her costars at SAG-AFTRA (via Variety ), the actress was apparently asked about Barbie’s eight Oscar nominations and what many consider to be one of the biggest snubs of this Oscars — Robbie missed out on the most Best Actress Award. Since she’s also a producer on the project, she doesn’t seem too bothered by it, saying, “There’s no way to feel sad when you know you’re so lucky.”

However, she admitted that she was a little upset that writer-director Greta Gerwig was left out of the Best Director category (again), even though her film performed well in multiple groups and even won Best Film nomination. “Obviously, I think Greta should have been nominated for director,” Robbie said. “What she did was a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing. What she accomplished, really. But for all movies, It’s been an incredible year.”

We have to agree with the actress. It’s strange to see “Barbie” having such incredible success everywhere, only for its captain to once again be left out of the Best Director category at the Oscars (“Little Women” a few years ago The situation is also very strange). Putting aside the chances of actually winning the award, this is an odd configuration of nominations for a Warner Bros. and Mattel-backed adaptation.

Meanwhile, Robbie’s co-star Ryan Gosling won two for his original song “I’m Just Ken” and for his stellar performance as Barbie’s leading man (which the movie deconstructed to great success). Oscar nomination. Somewhat ironically, the film’s lead actor (who was nominated as a supporting actor, though) may end up stealing most of the attention come March 10. We personally won’t forget America Ferrera (nominated for Best Supporting Actress).
