Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Free Update Adds Custom Item Selection

Nintendo has released a free update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Lets you choose which items appear on the track.

Available to all players, it adds custom item selection for selected multiplayer modes and offline vs. matches. You can also gift some items in team competitions and battles.

This update is released alongside Booster Course Pass Wave 3, which includes eight new courses and two cups.

With the addition of Wave 3 courses, 24 of the 48 courses in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass are now playable. These courses have previously appeared in Mario Kart games for Wii, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, and Mario Kart Tour.

Content delivery for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will continue until 2023. You can access it with a paid Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership. Alternatively, you can pick up the Booster Course Pass for $24.99 on the Nintendo eShop.
