Mars Attracts: 90s sci-fi comedy becomes a theme park simulator

Mars Attacks from 1996 has earned a place in the cult film box not only for its depictions of violence, but above all for the incredible star cast for a rather trashy sci-fi comedy.

Here is just a short excerpt from the cast list: Jack Nicholson, Glenn Close, Michael J. Fox, Pierce Brosnan, Natalie Portman, Tom Jones (in his starring role as himself), Jack Black, Sarah Jessica Parker and many more!

The story about an alien invasion of Earth is almost secondary. Instead, grilled peace doves and a Chihuahua with Pierce Brosnan’s head are firmly etched in the pop culture memory.

So it’s actually an interesting idea for a video game adaptation. Such games are currently in fashion anyway, if you look at Killer Klowns from Outer Space (test), for example. What nobody could have expected, however, is the genre of the upcoming title.

A theme park simulator is not the most obvious thing to think of. However, the trailer shows how well it can work. Scenes from the history of humanity, recreated in an alien theme park for the amusement of the masses. A cowboy in the Wild West, Julius Caesar in an ancient Roman backyard and the achievements of human space travel (including a female astronaut) surrounded by roller coasters and Ferris wheels. The Martians simply know how to impress their audience.

Die Game website tells us a little more. It talks about building an amusement park, attracting visitors and conducting experiments on people. It is doubtful whether there will be any familiar faces like Tom Jones among the people. What is certain, however, is that Mars Attracts is due to be released in 2025 and is currently only announced for the PC via Steam.
