Since the end of Avengers: Endgame and the start of Phase 4, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been all about the next big threat: Kang the Conqueror. But since Kang actor Jonathan Majors was fired, many MCU fans have been asking themselves the question: Does Marvel have a Plan B?
The new series Echo
on Disney Plus suggests: The post-credit scene of the last episode is just one of many building blocks that paves the way for a very unique, refreshingly different saga. And that could do without any multiversal threats.
Wilson Fisk wants power
What happens in the post-credit scene of Echo? After his failed attempt to bring Maya aka Echo (Alaqua Cox) back to himself, Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) sits emotionally upset on his private jet to New York. An interview with a political expert is on television.
The reason: The mayoral election in New York is coming up. The expert is of the opinion that a a brawler flailing wildly with his fists
would have a good chance of being well received by voters calling for change. The Kingpin’s eyes light up – it’s clear: Fisk wants to run for mayor!
This of course brings up the big question: Who will stop Fisk’s sinister plans? Captain America, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Thor, Loki and Co. will ultimately have more than enough to do with Kang. Marvel is now letting the answer shine through.
That is the Kingpin-Saga
Already in 2021 there were first indications of the direction in which the MCU could develop apart from Kang. In the Hawkeye series, the Kingpin appeared on Netflix for the first time since the Daredevil era.
Speaking of Netflix, there’s another breadcrumb hidden here: For a long time, the series belonging to the Defenders saga (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, The Punisher) were not considered part of the MCU canon – but that has recently officially changed. This means that the film and series universe has a whole bunch in one fell swoop neuer
Street-Level-Heroes.
This refers to characters who usually do not fight against major, world-threatening dangers, but rather ensure the safety of the population on the streets. Daredevil and Spider-Man, for example, have strong ties to New York and maintain law and order there.
Big summit in Spider-Man 4?
Spoiler Warning Part Two: At this point we also warn you not to read on unless you want to spoil the potential future of the MCU in advance. Although some of the following points are based on rumors, they may turn out to be true.
As is well known, a quasi-sequel to the Netflix series, Daredevil: Born Again, is being planned – yes, it involves the same characters. Wilson Fisk and Matt Murdock are supposed to meet there again. But in the dark corners of New York, where… the man without fear
When you’re out and about, you always have to expect spiders.
Matt Murdock already had a fan-acclaimed cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home because he is known to be a very good lawyer
is. According to the well-informed insider Cryptic HD Quality But that was just a foretaste:
In Spider-Man 4, Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Daredevil and possibly even Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) will have to deal with the newly elected Mayor Fisk – perhaps also with the support of Jessica Jones and the like?

A look at the comics could also reveal an important storyline: Mayor Fisk has all activities of masked heroes declared illegal, while at the same time he uses his political power in New York for his own criminal organizations.
The line-up of heroes would be reminiscent of the MCU film Civil War, but on a smaller level. And that’s the crux of the matter: This plot, spanning several films and series, would a refreshing change from the usual multidimensional world saver in the MCU.
Echo, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Spider-Man – the list of heroes who would have understandable personal reasons for opposing Fisk would probably be much longer than with Kang as the actual current main villain.
However, this suspected large connection has not yet been confirmed. The end of Daredevil: Born Again or even a trailer for Spider-Man 4 will probably bring clarity at the earliest – and the latter is not in the clear yet due to Tom Holland’s hesitation.
Things are unusually quiet in the MCU in 2024. Only one film opens in the cinema – but it’s really tough! Because Deadpool 3 is not only the first appearance of the anti-hero, who is known for his loose mouth, in the MCU, but also represents the encounter with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). You can find out more about this and what to expect in terms of series in the articles above.
