Marvel Rivals is a team-based PvP shooter with a variety of different characters, which at first glance is very reminiscent of the Blizzard hit Overwatch. What’s the matter? The villain Doctor Doom battles his 2099 counterpart so fiercely that a whole host of universes collide. The heroes living within must band together to stop Doom. The already confirmed features at a glance: Extensive range of superheroes: You can choose from a variety of well-known heroes from the Marvel cosmos. Among others, the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy and the X-Men are taking part. 6v6 matches in PvP: The battles are described by developer NetEase Games as fast-paced and fun. Depending on your character, you have different skills at your disposal. Hero Synergies: Certain combinations of different characters enable the use of particularly strong synergy abilities. For example, Rocket Raccoon can sit on Groot’s shoulders or Hulk can reinforce Iron-Man’s armor with gamma energy. Destructible environments: The individual battle arenas should be destructible – whether completely or only at a few specific points is still unclear. Post-launch content: Of course, Marvel Rivals will also rely on seasons that will deliver new heroes and fresh maps. What about microtransactions? The official press release still leaves this unclear, but it at least says that you can “unlock” new content – whether that means “in the game” or “with your wallet” remains to be seen. There is no word yet on when Marvel Rivals will be released. You can already register for a beta phase on the official website.
