There are now a number of Marvel video games on the market, but there is currently no current multiplayer shooter based on the numerous superheroes. But that could change soon, as such a AAA title is now said to be in the works.
The rumor mill is once again bubbling over because a new Marvel game is said to be in development that we didn’t necessarily know anything about yet. Most recently, Uncharted creator Amy Hennig announced Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, a new single-player action-adventure game. Other single-player titles we know about include Marvel’s Iron Man, Marvel’s Black Panther, Marvel’s Wolverine and Marvel’s Blade.
Now there are rumors that a AAA first-person shooter with a multiplayer focus on the Marvel superheroes is also in the works. Accordingly, a corresponding announcement of the game under the name Marvel Rivals is expected in the current year 2024.
The reason for the speculation was a LinkedIn company account that is used to search for new employees for a AAA game. These will operate in Guangzhou, China, where NetEase’s headquarters are located. The studio has already gained experience with mobile games related to Marvel in the past.
Compared to the numerous Marvel single-player games, a new title that is said to be in the works will now bring a fresh Marvel approach to the game. Marvel Rivals is to be placed as a AAA multiplayer shooter on PC, consoles and mobile platforms. However, an official announcement is still pending, so despite the job advertisements, you should initially classify these speculations as what they are: a rumor. Of course, we will keep you up to date on this as usual!
