It has long been known that Marvel’s Avengers will also be optimized for the next-gen consoles; now there is a fixed date for the upgrade – paired with replenishment in the form of the next DLC package.
Square Enix announced that you will soon be able to enjoy Marvel’s Avengers in a specially optimized form on the new PS5 and Xbox Series X / S consoles. This game version should now be available from March 18, 2021 – together with the next DLC.
Anyone who has already secured the PS4 or Xbox One version of the title will receive the next-gen upgrade at no additional cost within the respective console family. To upgrade from the respective disc version, the corresponding counterpart of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, including a drive, is required. Saves and game progress can be transferred in the course of the upgrade and will not be lost.
On the next-gen consoles you will be able to choose between two display modes: One mode prioritizes the resolution, the second mode aims at a constant frame rate of 60 fps. The upgrade should have been released in 2020, but was postponed to 2021 in October; on March 18th the wait is over.
On the same day you can look forward to Clint Barton aka Hawkeye. In the DLC “Operation Hawkeye – Future Imperfect” this superhero now finds its way into the game. The additional content will be free to all main game owners.
In addition to Hawkeye as a playable character, the DLC also includes the next chapter of the Avengers Initiative plot and also introduces a new opponent in Maestro.
According to Dataminern, other heroes appear to be on the way for the game after Hawkeye, including Black Panther, Captain Marvel, She-Hulk, Winter Soldier, War Machine and more. An official announcement is still pending.
