Game news Marvel’s Avengers PS5 | PS4: Spider-Man doesn’t get the same special treatment as Black Panther or Hawkeye
In just over a week, on November 30th, Spider-Man will finally join the ranks of the Avengers after waiting long months with the owners of Sony devices who have the exclusivity. If we could learn more of his arrival in the game from Crystal Dynamics today, a very unfortunate detail has been shared with one of the game’s executives.
The soap opera of Spider-Man’s arrival in Marvel’s Avengers for consoles PS5 and PS4 never ending! We heard of its arrival in the game and a whole bunch of content a little over two weeks ago, and since then this dear Spidey has never ceased to reveal himself to us through a first trailer or his wardrobe.
A few days before the official publication and as c oncrete information reach us, Some points will make people cringe as the final rendering could well be far from what fans expect!
Content not tailored to the event?
During a previous statement, The game’s senior producer Dan Matlack announced that the arrival of Spider-Man will come with cutscenes and a storyline. At the time, these words had caught our attention but not completely reassured us, as they seemed carefully chosen to avoid misunderstandings.
When every new character arrives, like the recent Hawkeye or Black Panther, Marvel’s Avengers had bespoke scripted missions to tell us the story of the superhero in question. But in the words of Philippe Therien, Director of Gameplay, on the IGN microphone, Patch 2.2 should certainly welcome a host of new features, including a Klaw raid, but as far as Spiderman is concerned, the content promises to be meager.
Spider-Man’s story told … differently
So it was Philippe Therien who announced the bad news: Spider-Man will not have the right to story missions in patch 2.2, as was the case with Hawkeye and Black Panther, to name a few. Instead, the weaver’s story is told through audio logs and visual scenes that are unlocked as players complete the multiplayer challenges.
Patch 2.2 skips a short campaign of new missions to focus on an event where the superhero teams up with Black Widow and Ms. Marvel and … that’s about it.. Philippe Therien stated that he wanted to focus more and more on the overall experience of the patch, rather than the character that is reserved for just a single segment of the game audience.
We want to devote ourselves to content that everyone can enjoy, which is why we decided to devote a large part of our energy to the Klaw Raid taking place at the same time. It really is an easy decision for us. Spider-Man can play any content, but then we’ll post meaningful content on all platforms. It’s a decision that was made from the start. – Philippe Therien, Marvel’s Avengers Gameplay Director.
