After Microsoft took over Bethesda and Arkane, Redfall and Starfield were most recently released as Xbox exclusives. The question naturally arises as to whether this will be the case with the new Marvel’s Blade. But that doesn’t seem to be a foregone conclusion yet!
After the flop with Redfall, Arkane Lyon announced a new project at this year’s Game Awards. Previous rumors that it could be Dishonored 3 have not been confirmed; instead, Marvel’s Blade appeared on the scene.
As is well known, Arkane belongs to Bethesda – and Bethesda now belongs to Microsoft. This is also why Redfall and Starfield were recently released exclusively for the Xbox in the console sector. In the case of Marvel’s Blade, is the same fate threatening and PlayStation gamers come away empty-handed? This doesn’t seem to be a done deal at all!
This becomes clear from the fact that there are clear differences in the wording of the announcement compared to the previously mentioned published projects – because in the case of Marvel’s Blade, the Xbox is not even mentioned much and is highlighted as an exclusive platform. With Redfall and Starfield, the Microsoft console was particularly emphasized right from the start.
Also Microsoft’s official channel, that Xbox Wire, simply links to the announcement story on Bethesda.net, which also lacks any mention of the Xbox. When Arkane Austin announced Redfall in 2021, the Xbox Series X/S and PC were mentioned in several places – as was the fact that the game was ending up on Xbox Game Pass.
Last but not least, it also fits in with the fact that the English-speaking colleagues from VG247 We’ve contacted Bethesda for a statement on whether Marvel’s Blade will be an Xbox console exclusive. However, the publisher refused to comment and declined to comment on the matter.
Overall, the appearance so far suggests that Marvel’s Blade could actually be a multiplatform game that could then also be available on the PlayStation 5. In any case, we’ll keep you updated!
