The first gameplay of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has left us completely stunned. The sequel to Insomniac Games has revealed how we can fight crime by switching between Peter Parker and Miles Morales, but a great doubt has been left hanging in the air.
Apparently, everything seemed to indicate that we could only make the change at certain times, and the PlayStation blog reinforced this idea. The public has always wanted to be able to switch between the heroes whenever we wanted and Bryan Intihar, creative director of the work, has been approached about this issue.
“When you’re playing the main story, we control when you switch between Pete and Miles… It’s done in the service of the story when we make those changes.
“We’ve got content designed around Peter, we’ve got content designed around Miles, and we’ve got content where you can play either of them. You’ll be able – in the open world – to freely switch between them at the press of a button. Being able to switch in the world that opened up so quickly between the two characters is really, really awesome. Just being able to choose who I want to play with for a certain activity…it’s been so amazing to have that feature. It’s something we probably wouldn’t have explored before.”
That’s right, we finally know that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will let us instantly jump between Peter and Miles when we feel like it. This mechanic was one of the most attention-grabbing with GTA V and being able to switch between Michael, Trevor and Franklin worked great. In addition, the new information does not stop here.
A different New York
From Famitsu the director Ryan Smith has referred to the size of the New York that we are going to visit. We’ve seen a new patch with the Queens area and the East River, but a really big expansion is coming.
“We’ve added Queens and Brooklyn this time around, so generally speaking the map size is about twice as large as previous titles. Since these two areas are somewhat smaller and more residential, I think you’ll find them different than Manhattan. We’ve prepared some unexpected situations that we haven’t done before, like a river battle between two of the cities, so I hope you’ll look forward to it.”
On the other hand, the creative has indicated that the two Spider-Mans will have slightly different powers, not only because of the symbiote’s presence, but because Miles will be faster than Peter. In addition, they have remembered the fact that we will have three skill trees, two individual and one shared. We will see all of this at some point in the fall of 2023 on PS5.
