We don’t have a specific date yet, but we now know when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 It will be launched next year.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (my unofficial subtitle is Electric Boogaloo) was announced over a year ago, and fans have apparently been eager to reveal a release date. While we don’t know the exact date yet, the official PlayStation Blog was able to at least point us in a rough direction: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be in the fall (or fall, for those ponds) of 2023.
The game’s creative director Bryan Inithar shared the news in a brief statement, saying, “What a year it has been for PlayStation Studios; at Insomniac Games, we are in awe of the work of our peers. Congratulations to everyone All in a successful 2022… Next year we will continue to get Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ready for release next fall, which is just as exciting.”
We actually don’t know much about the game yet, and the blog basically admits it. It’s not even clear if we’ll be playing as Miles at any point, though it’s only a matter of time before Insomniac tells us more about it. The sequel will be a bit darker than the first two games, which shouldn’t be a surprise considering the iconic Venom makes his debut in the sequel.
It looks like Peter Parker’s best friend, Harry Osborn, has also been recast, pointing to a more prominent role in the character. Again, this isn’t surprising, since his presence was teased at the end of the first game, and there’s an obvious connection to Venom. Whether or not he’s a sticky monster is unclear, but at least we can confidently say we’ll know by next fall.
