In October, the action sequel Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on the PlayStation 5 will cause a sensation. In advance, Sony has now presented a suitable limited edition of the PlayStation 5 itself, including the DualSense controller, and presented the story trailer.
From October 20, 2023, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will cause a sensation on the PlayStation 5 – that has been certain for some time now. If you want to take this as an opportunity to stock up on a PS5 in the first place or if you are an absolute collector or Spider-Man fan, Sony now has a special goodie ready for you: a limited edition of the PlayStation 5 including a DualSense controller in a Spider-Man look.
The special edition of the PS5 has now been released via PlayStation Blog officially announced and is – as you can see from the attached pictures – really worth seeing. The design focuses on the threat of the symbiote Venom. So the console is in Spider-Man red, which seems to be eaten up more and more by the black symbiote color. It was also the goal to present this transformation powerfully.
While the black color on the console itself is getting closer to the Spider-Man logo, the transformation on the matching and accompanying DualSense wireless controller is further along, leaving little red color here. Insomniac Games is responsible for the design in cooperation with Marvel.
Art Director Jacinda Chew sagt diesbezüglich: “The design was inspired by the in-game symbiote that’s taking over the console and controller, but you can still see some of the underlying red under the tendrils. This represents the various ways players will experience the symbiote takeover in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. It’s a constant push and pull for dominance whether it’s internal or external and the outcome is not certain.”
In addition to the specially designed console itself, the console bundle also includes the DualSense wireless controller and a voucher for a digital version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in the Standard Edition. Those who already own a PlayStation 5 will also be able to purchase the Limited Edition covers separately to customize the look of their console.
Pre-orders in Germany, among others, are possible from July 28th. The whole thing is then available via direct.playstation.com or at selected dealers. The console as well as the covers will be available before the actual game release from September 1st; the voucher can then be redeemed on October 20, when the game is also released.
A new story trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has also been released. This provides some new scenes of the symbiotic Spider-Man aka Peter Park. The new trailer released on the occasion of San Diego Comic-Con also provides clues as to who might actually be hiding behind villain Venom in the game.
