Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Apparently it’s happening again in New York, but Insomniac shared that the map is now twice as big.
For something like Marvel’s Spider-Man, making a sequel means you can’t completely change the map–it’s just set in real New York City, so you can only change so much. Of course, that doesn’t mean you can explore all of New York in the first game, which means it has room to expand. According to an interview with The Washington Post (paywall, thanks to IGN), Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 creative director Brian Intihal said the map “doubled in size” compared to the first game. “.

“In terms of the size of the city, it’s twice the size of Spider-Man 1,” Intihar said. “When you’re playing in Queens, there’s more of a neighborhood feel, smaller buildings, which is why the mesh wings work so well across the area, and you can swing low to the ground if you want, or you can fly over”
Not only will you find Queens added to the game, but Brooklyn as well, with Intihar expanding on how the map differs from the first game in an interview with Famitsu (translation from Gematsu). “This time we’ve added Queens and Brooklyn, so roughly speaking, the map is about twice the size of what it was before,” Initihar said. “Since those two areas are relatively small and residential, I think you’ll find them different than Manhattan. We’re prepared for some contingencies that we haven’t done before, like a river battle between the two cities, so I hope You will expect them.”
Last week, Insomniac finally showed off an expanded look at some of the upcoming sequel’s gameplay, notably revealing that Kraven the Hunter will be one of the main villains you’ll face in the game. It also shows us how Peter’s Spider-Man will play with his Venom suit, looking more like a slugger than Miles’ Spider-Man, who you can play as, too.
