Marvel’s Spider-Man Harry Osborn’s original voice actor, Scott Porter, appears to have been recast for the upcoming sequel.
Marvel’s Spider-Man ending credits spoilers.
As Eurogamer reported, in a now-deleted tweet from Potter in which he voiced Harry in voice clips you can find throughout the game, the actor wrote that he would not be reprising his role in the comics. A character from Spider-Man 2. “While I do the voice, unfortunately Harry from the first Spider-Man will not appear in the sequel,” he wrote. “They decided to do a real photo shoot and I believe the age gap between me and Harry is too big to get over. I’m bummed, but I get it. It’s going to be an incredible game.”
It’s unclear why Potter might be recast for such a reason, since Spider-Man himself is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal, 51, who is eight years older than Potter, who is 43. This is especially weird since the Spider-Man remake actually recasts the web killer’s face-capturing actor as a younger one in an attempt to get closer to Lowenthal’s performance, so who knows what was the decision behind Potter’s recast ,if it is like this.
It’s widely expected that Harley will play a bigger role in the sequel, since the end of the first game had him somehow connected to the classic symbiote. Who do we know will appear in the sequel? Venom itself, voiced by the flawless Tony Todd (Candyman).
The sequel is also expected to take on a darker tone than the first two games, drawing comparisons from the first Spider-Man game to Star Wars: A New Hope, while this full-length sequel is more like The Empire Strikes Back.
While we don’t have a full release date for Spider-Man 2, it’s still on track for a 2023 release, exclusively for the PS5.
