It has long been known that the original sci-fi trilogy by Mass Effect will be reissued for current platforms. Now there is a specific release date for the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition and also a first trailer.
For a long time, it was one of the gaming industry’s worst-kept secrets before BioWare and EA officially announced the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. There was initially no release date for the new edition of the original sci-fi trilogy – until today.
In a press release, the two companies have now announced that you will be able to watch the epic again from May 14, 2021 or catch up on it if you have missed the trilogy by now. The release of Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 will take place in a souped-up form on the platforms PC (via Origin and Steam), PS4 and Xbox One. Thanks to the backward compatibility of the new platforms, you will also be able to enjoy the good piece on PS5 and Xbox Series X / S.
As part of the Legendary Edition, you get the single-player content of the three original and highly acclaimed games as well as more than 40 story, weapon and armor DLCs. In addition, the story of Commander Shepard has been visually revamped and will now shine in 4K Ultra HD with HDR support at 60 fps. Some specific features are also supported on the PC, such as 21: 9 widescreen monitors. In addition, revised character models, high-resolution textures and an otherwise modernized visual experience (improvements to shaders, lighting, dynamic shadows, volumetric elements, depth of field and more) should ensure a contemporary appearance.
The first Mass Effect now also offers extensive optimizations of the game world with additional details and depth at locations such as Eden Prime, Ilos and Feros. In addition to updated interfaces and user interfaces, various changes have been made to improve ease of use in Mass Effect. In addition, combat and exploration have been modernized through improvements in aiming, troop control and behavior, Mako controls and camera work.
The USK has released the Legendary Edition from the age of 16; Pre-orders are now possible. And last but not least, you can also see the official reveal trailer attached. Have lots of fun with it!
