Archetype Entertainment has acquired another former BioWare developer.
Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 Editor Drew Karpyshyn Announced that he has joined Archetype Entertainment, a company founded by the Wizards of the Coast and working on science fiction projects.
Karpyshyn joined the lead writer two years after leaving BioWare. In the meantime, the veteran author published a novel, researched the mobile game Storyscape, and contributed to the very successful Kickstarter.
Karpyshyn shared his passion for the project and the creative atmosphere of the studio on a blog. "I have been in the video game industry for 20 years. When I entered BioWare, everything was fresh and exciting," he recalls.
"This is a dream job-talented people work together to create epic games such as Baldur & # 39; s Gate, KOTOR, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age. But as we grow and succeed, things change.
"We became more determined. We were less capable of doing what we loved and forced the team to create games based on market research rather than our creative instincts and passions. The job I dreamed of became a job, Lost the former enthusiasm and excitement.
"But with the prototype, my enthusiasm rekindled. The feel of the studio reminded me of my early days at BioWare. I can feel the magic in the air. Even though I can't get into the details of what we are studying , We have caused a lot of excitement in the industry. "
The prototype was led by James Ohlen and recently attracted another veteran of BioWare, Chad Robertson. Currently, there is very little news about the game, but we know it will not be based on Magic: The Party or Dungeon and Dragons.
