In addition to the great story that James Gunn plans to develop in his cinematic universe, DC Studios has another franchise in its hands that, with just one film, has managed to conquer fans: The Batman. After a successful first installment and a spin-off series focused on the Penguin, its director Matt Reeves has shared some details of the next project in the saga.
In an interview for the magazine SFX Magazinethe American filmmaker confirmed that he is putting the finishing touches to the script for The Batman 2 and offered a small preview of what we will see in this new adventure of the Dark Knight, set once again in the dangerous streets of Gotham.
“It’s going to go deeper into the epic story of deep-rooted corruption and explore aspects that we couldn’t even anticipate in the first installment,” Reeves said. He also confirmed that the actor Colin Farrellafter starring in his own series, will return in this sequel to once again play the Penguin.
On the other hand, the director explained that the saga will seek to distance itself from the fantastic elements, focusing on a more realistic approach, which means that characters such as Darkseid or Clayface will not appear. The Batman 2 will hit theaters worldwide on October 2, 2026.
