On May 17, 2024, Francis Ford Coppola and the crew of “Megalopolis” gathered to answer questions from the press in Cannes. The film celebrated its premiere on the red carpet the evening before.
We were there live and were able to ask the director, who always releases new cuts of his films, such as “Apocalypse Now” and “The Godfather, Part 3”, whether “Megalopolis” was actually the final version of the film film is about.
If there’s a way to make this movie a little better, I will do it.

Francis Ford Coppola, now 85, jokes: “I think I’ll still be here in 20 years. And then if there’s an opportunity to make the film a little better, I’ll do it.”
Packaged as a joke, he nevertheless admits the chance of re-editing the film one day. However, the fact that he may change the film again shouldn’t stop you from watching “Megalopolis”. For now it is the final version, and since Coppola is already working on the next project, “Megalopolis” is finished for him. At least currently!
