The ability to decode speech using brain activity is a very important topic for ndollarscience, but especially for health. Many patients who struggle to express themselves, communicate, or are in a vegetative state could benefit from such technological advances. The solutions that exist today are risky and invasive and requires surgery to implant leads.

After accounting for the physical differences between each brain, the goal was to guess what the participants were hearing by simply sensing brain activity.
