Did I keep you waiting? Nearly 15 years after his debut in 1998’s Metal Gear Solid Snake, David Hayter joined fellow Metal Gear cast members Jennifer Hale and Robin Atkin Downes for a reunion panel at Emerald Comic-Con in Seattle.

In addition to his career as a screenwriter in Hollywood, Hayter voiced Snake (including today’s Solid and prequel Naked variants) in eight Metal Gear Solid games, including the groundbreaking PS1 classic, all the great PS2 and PS3 era titles, and Acid 2, Ops and Peace Walker on the Portable PSP – easily one of the best games on the console.

Probably best known for female Commander Shepard in the Mass Effect series, Samus Alan in the Metroid Prime series and tons of other great cartoons and games, Jennifer Hale as Nao in the original Metal Gear Solid and MGS 4 Dr. Mehunter, and Otacon’s sister Emma Emmerich in Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty.

After providing additional voices for soldiers in Metal Gear Solid 3 (the best of them all) and Portable Operations, Robin Atkin Downs made a big splash in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid V: Phantasm. Pain as Big Boss’ right-hand man, Kaz Miller. He has also given his voice to numerous TV shows, cartoons, and games, highlights including Travis Touchdown in Suda51’s No More Heroes series and Destiny 2’s Destiny 2 as Travis Touchdown. Mafia boss Spider.

In a fascinating hour-long chat, the trio discussed where their acting careers began and answered audience questions about everything in Hideo Kojima’s “Super Secret” script and why they still bothered with Alloy after all of it. Gear up for fan interaction time and never know if your character is yelling in a helicopter or whispering in a recording studio.
