A few days ago, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was announced as a remake of the popular third part of the series. While many fans were excited, the reveal also caused some confusion: Why doesn’t Konami start with Solid Snake’s first PlayStation adventure? Now we know the reason and this even makes sense.
Somehow it’s part of the DNA of the Metal Gear Solid series to confuse its players. Normally, the story makes fans frown, but in the case of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the facts are a bit different.

Last week, the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater reboot was officially unveiled at the PlayStation Showcase. This will give a new generation of players the chance to experience Snake’s jungle adventure. You don’t have to make any compromises even with the platforms, the remake does not appear on PlayStation 5, the Xbox Series X/S and the PC are also served.
With all the beginner-friendliness, it was more than confusing that Konami decided to re-release the third part first. Why doesn’t the studio kick off with the first Metal Gear Solid? Nasty minds could now claim that a title from the first PlayStation would mean significantly more work in the fresh cell cure. But the truth is very different, as a Konami spokesman told IGN.
For one thing, popularity is a factor in the decision. But the story also influenced Konami’s approach: “We chose Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater because it includes the birth of Big Boss (Naked Snake), which is the starting point of the Metal Gear series”.
But of course it cannot be ruled out that earlier parts will also be reissued. As a small drop of bitterness, you can at least look forward to the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, which includes the first three parts in a slightly polished form. It’s something.
