The Ukraine war is also taking its toll on local developers. As a former employee of Metro developer 4A Games announced via Twitter, one of his former colleagues has fallen.

Of course, the Russian invasion of Ukraine did not go unnoticed by the developer studios located there. Quite a few studios have set up branches abroad to continue their work, such as 4A Games or GSC Game World, among others. But some of the employees have also joined the defense of their homeland and went into battle against Russia. One of these employees has now apparently fallen in battle.

Leonid Stepanov, currently at Remedy Entertainment, announced via Twitter that his former colleague Andrii “Nizrok” Korzinkin of 4A Games was killed during a combat mission. Korzinkin was responsible for the animations in Metro Exodus at 4A Games. In his tweet, Stepanov not only praises Korzinkin’s talent as a developer, but also his sense of humor and positive personality.

Other colleagues and other developers joined in and expressed their sadness and dismay via Twitter, including photos of Korzinkin and examples of his work. Numerous Metro fans also expressed their sympathy in the tweet. Rest in peace Andrii.
