Even if several countries, including France, are approaching containment, the health and economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic is far from over. As the consumption habits of the French are so doomed to change as a result of this crisis, different brands are now looking to transform their way of operating in order to revive store activity. Micromania is one of its brands.

During the confinement, Micromania was able to continue to sell games by correspondence. But like countless other businesses deemed not to be of primary necessity, the French subsidiary of GameStop has seen its physical stores closed. In an attempt to relaunch its stores under the new conditions imposed by the current situation, Micromania is experimenting with contactless withdrawal in stores. The group details the process as follows:
- Choose online and add your favorite products to your basket
- Choose the contactless store pickup in the delivery method and select the eligible pickup store. Finalize your order.
- You will receive a first order confirmation email. You will receive your withdrawal code by email and / or SMS then a sales advisor will contact you by phone to agree on a date / time for withdrawal.
- Present your withdrawal code and your identity card as soon as you arrive by following the queue and respecting the social distancing instructions.
- Collect your order in the dedicated area.
Micromania specifies however that its customers cannot for the moment choose from the entirety of its catalog. People wishing to take advantage of this system should choose from a list of products offered by the dealer.
Another important clarification, a person who will go to a Micromania store to collect his purchase, will not have the possibility of making an additional purchase on the spot or even to return to the store. The French group also insists on respecting the time of its appointment and asks its customers not to go to the store concerned without an appointment.
this new mode of operation is currently only at the testing stage. In fact, only four stores (Lyon Grenette, Nice Medecin, Caumartin and Caen Center Ville) currently offer this operating mode. Micromania has not yet mentioned a timetable for implementing this process in other stores. With more than 400 stores in France, the group will have their work cut out if they wish to develop these practices across their entire network.
