Like other tech giants, Microsoft continues to cut its payroll. The number of employees affected is significantly higher than in October 2022.
After around 1,000 people were kicked out, the Microsoft ogre continues his work “structural adjustments” more important.
Microsoft is laying off 10,000 employees
This Wednesday, January 18, 2023, Microsoft announced new job cuts after those in October 2022. The Redmond-based company will lay off 10,000 employees, or 5% of its payroll, by the end of March. A decision that serves as an answer “Macroeconomic conditions and changing customer priorities”according to CEO Satya Nadella.
Like last time, it is possible that different sectors of society will be affected. Satya Nadella promises in his note that this will continue to be the case “New hires in key strategic areas”
Unfortunately, when layoffs have abounded in the tech world in recent months and employees at Meta and Amazon have not been spared, the timing is sure to make people cringe. Despite downturns in some sectors, Microsoft is a very healthy giant that will also buy Activision Blizzard for $70 billion.
