There are still two months until the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is released. So that you can upgrade your PC by then, the system requirements are already available.
We know that Microsoft Flight Simulator has the potential to make even the most powerful computers cry. And it will be no different with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Microsoft has now, two months before the launch on November 19, published the system requirements for PC in the game’s FAQ.
So there’s enough time to check whether your machine is up to the simulator or whether you still need to upgrade it to enjoy it in all its glory.
What is certain is that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will only take up 50GB of space on your hard drive, although we assume that an SSD is certainly more optimal than a normal HDD. The small size is explained by the fact that Asobo wants to feed a lot of data via the cloud.
The minimum requirements still sound quite moderate, although Microsoft unfortunately hasn’t specified what image quality they are intended for. We suspect 1080p at 30fps with low settings. A Ryzen 2600X or i7-6800K with a Radeon RX 5700 or GTX 970 is sufficient for that. But that probably has little to do with enjoyment.
We recommend an R7 2700X or i7-10700K with RX 5700 XT or RTX 2080, which will probably allow the game to run at a smooth 60 fps at 1080p. Oh, and 32 GB of RAM can’t hurt. But for the ideal situation, you’ll have to get down to business. R7 7900X or i7-14700K with RTX 4080 or RX 7900 XT with 64 GB of RAM is a good idea. But that sounds like 4K60.
So if you want to fully enjoy Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, you have no choice but to dig deep into your piggy bank. The high-end graphics cards mentioned cost between 700 and 1,100 dollars, depending on the model. It remains to be seen what the game will be capable of on the Xbox Series X/S.
