Microsoft is celebrating great success with its Flight Simulator. Already 2 million players travel the virtual world as pilots. With the launch on the next-gen consoles, developer Asobo is looking forward to the future.
Already 2 million players swing in the new Flight Simulator in lofty heights, reports Microsoft at the in-house Xbox Wire Site
Especially for niche games like Flight Simulator, such a large player base means that the way into the mainstream has been made. Our test has also shown that amateur pilots and Cessna professionals alike get their money’s worth (to the test: Flight Simulator: a masterpiece that redefines an entire genre). Microsoft’s decision to integrate the simulation into Game Pass has certainly played its part in the success.
Microsoft also has some spectacular numbers up its sleeve: In the meantime, the slightly more than 2 million players have explored almost 72% of the planet’s surface. Most pilots are currently drawn to New York, which was the most frequented of the 50 million flights. The most popular aircraft is the Airbus A320 NEO
The positive numbers can now also be measured in prizes: At the Game Awards 2020, the Asobo development team earned the award for “Best Sim / Strategy 2020”. Next up is the launch on the Xbox Series X / S, which is planned for summer 2021. You can also enjoy your flights in VR from December 22nd of this year.
