Microsoft announces it will end its preview Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Friends and Family Program August 15th.
First launched in September 2022, the program allows up to five people to share a single Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
All active members of the Friends and Family program will receive an Xbox Game Pass offer as a thank you for playing, the company said. The exact details of this offer have not yet been announced.
The plan is priced at $25 and allows up to five people to share an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Everyone in the program gets the entire Game Pass Ultimate library across Xbox and PC, unique access to EA Play, and other benefits.
Starting today, existing primary and secondary members will receive an email describing the details of the change, and starting July 17, primary account holders will no longer be able to add new members to their shared memberships.
On August 15th, existing memberships will end and Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family will no longer be available; however, Microsoft will begin sending Xbox Game Pass Ultimate codes to primary and secondary members, depending on the primary account holder remaining time (as noted in the table).
To be eligible, shared friends and family subscriptions must be active on August 15th. Codes will be sent to your Xbox account on console and the Xbox app on PC and must be redeemed with the Xbox account you used to redeem Join a current Xbox Game Pass Friends and Family membership.
