Xbox has been reforming its First Party study template for some time to ensure that the start of the Xbox Series X generation is successful and full of diverse and exclusive proposals. Names like 343 industries, The Coalition or Turn 10 were joined by Compulsion Games, Obsidian, Ninja Theory, Playground, inXile and The Initiative among others, but one of Phil Spencer's pending tasks is Japan. The Xbox boss has always considered himself a fan of Japanese games and having an exclusive studio in Japanese lands would be a success.
As noted by a well-known insider of the industry, Xbox planned to buy Platinum Games last year, when this developer was in a turbulent period where there were no investors willing to allow them to self-publish their games.
Pretty sure last year Microsoft was looking to buy them, guess that deal fell apart or they decided to go another direction.

«Platinum was looking for multiple options last year, to ensure the financing of larger projects. Some small projects were left in the background, but now that the company is stable they can start carrying out those original plans and ideas »
After the support of the giant Tencent and a better economic condition of Platinum it seems impossible for the developer to partner with Sony, Nintendo or Xbox exclusively. Who knows what Platinum will be up to.
