Due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19, we are seeing how many events are taking place postponing, others many canceling completely and others posing broadcast the event digitally. Big events like E3 and GDC took a direct hit. Although it seems that some companies are taking precautions additional, Microsoft being a clear example.
Microsoft confirmed with a statement to ZDNet that your face-to-face events, both external and internal, will become digital events. The only event mentioned in the statement is the MVP & RD Summit that was originally going to be in person. Microsoft will maintain this policy until July 2021.
Microsoft stated to ZDNet the following:
“Given the challenges that COVID-19 has presented, Microsoft has closely monitored the global situation and has developed and re-evaluated the overall strategy for in-person events. As a company Microsoft has made the decision to do a transition from all kinds of external and internal events to a digital experience for the first time until July 2021. This will include the future MVP & RD Summit, currently scheduled for March 28. We will continue to assess the situation and look forward to returning to the events in person when the situation allows. ”
This pandemic is claiming all live events, you just need to see big names like E3, Gamescom or Quakecon and many others. events canceled, postponed or to be broadcast live. For now we just have to wait and see.
