With Might & Magic: Chess Royale, Ubisoft today officially confirmed a new series representative of the well-known franchise. But this is a spin-off with a completely new focus, because the studio wants to mix two currently very popular genres in its own way.
As the naming already suggests, the game is a mixture of an Auto Chess title with the Battle Royale genre. In other words: You will compete against 99 other players like in a battle royale game, only with auto-chess mechanisms.
You can fall back on all kinds of popular heroes from the Might & Magic universe and combine them and use their skills to decide games for you. There are factions and a variety of unique skills that you can use to your advantage. You will be gradually transported in 1 vs 1 battles from the 100 player pool until there is only one gamer left in the end.
Although the whole thing sounds rather excessive at first, Ubisoft promises that a game will only take around 10 minutes of play. The rules: "Loses quickly, wins quickly."
The release will initially take place for iOS and Android on January 30, 2020.
