Zenless Zone Zero is off to a very strong start, with the game having already reached 50 million downloads worldwide less than a week after its release.
I think, at this point, it’s undeniable that miHoYo has solidified its position as the leader in mobile gaming. It’s been around for a while, but it wasn’t until Genshin Impact that it really took off. Honkai Impact 3rd came out last year, offering turn-based gameplay with well-designed gacha characters and a sci-fi vibe not unlike Genshin Impact’s fantasy world. Now, this week, Zenless Zone Zero has finally been released, a Jet Set Radio-style game with roguelike elements. Of course, while the answer may be obvious, there’s always the question of whether it will do well – and considering the game’s official Twitter account shared that it’s reached 50 million downloads, I think it’s safe to say that, yes, it’s another hit.

“Hello, dear agents!” reads the tweet announcing the milestone. “Since launch, Zenless Zone Zero has been downloaded 50 million times worldwide. The city that once existed only in the hopes and dreams of the development team has never been more vibrant. Your patience and support have made New Eridu what it is today. Of course, in order to live up to everyone’s expectations and truly become a city of wonder, we know there is still a lot of room for improvement. We encourage all agents to provide feedback and suggestions through our official channels.”

You might be asking, “Why does this matter to me?” That’s a good question, but the simple answer is that you’re rewarded for contributing to that total. All players who reach Inter-Knot Level 1 or above before the release of version 1.1 can claim 1,600 Polychrome, a currency that you can use to buy Master Tapes, which you can then buy to pull characters. So, potential free characters are the big deal here! Lucky you, aren’t you?
