Mike Tyson, boxer legend and main star of an overlooked but hilarious cartoon show, is stepping into the ring today. For a fight? Yes, to some extent. He will appear on the Tekken 8 panel with other fighters and Bandai Namco staff.
Today, “Tekken” director Katsuhiro Harada and “Tekken” producer Michael Murray will be at Comic-Con with a few burly characters. Mike Tyson was one of those guests, as were professional boxer Cris Cyborg and WWE wrestler Xavier Woods.
We have absolutely no idea what this panel will show. But given the size of Comic-Con and the prestige level of its guests, you can only imagine it’s going to be a big deal. Tekken 8 only released a new character trailer a few days ago, so it’s too early to reveal yet another new character… right?
Then again, Iron Fist is no stranger to adding real-world characters to the series. Jeffery Dean Morgan, who played The Walking Dead’s Neegan in Tekken 7, was able to beat the cast with his trusty baseball bat. Back in Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Snoop Dogg was instrumental in promoting the game, composing a Tekken song and serving as background music on his own stage.
So maybe there is still a chance? Perhaps more likely is some sort of promotion for the boxing star. We recently saw Lil Wayne in the Street Fighter VI launch trailer, so who knows, Mr. Tyson might make a big splash at the King of the Iron Fist tournament.
If Mike Tyson has the chance to be a playable character in Tekken 8, I’m here to assure you that not only will he be my main force, but I’ll be good enough with him to win a tournament. You can keep me going.
